Zohar family

Zohar and Tehila are a Messianic Jewish couple who met and married while attending the same congregation in Israel. Zohar was born in the Ukraine and immigrated with his family to Israel at the age of four. He came to faith in Yeshua after completing his Israeli military service. Tehila was born in Israel, raised in South Africa, returning to the Holy Land when she was seventeen. She was saved shortly thereafter. Since their marriage in 1999, the Gonens have been serving the Lord in Israel, while raising their young family.

Zohar worked as an engineer for a telecommunications company in Israel until he felt the need to deepen his knowledge in the Word of God by attending Bible School. God amazingly opened the door for the couple to attend The Shepherd's Bible College in New Zealand, and Zohar graduated with a Diploma of Biblical Studies in 2010.

It was during their time in New Zealand, that Zohar realized the great potential for evangelism among Israeli backpackers in the country, and felt a call to full time ministry, joining Celebrate Messiah New Zealand, to this aim.

Since his salvation, Zohar has always had a passionate heart to share the Gospel with Jewish people, and Israelis in particular. He has much evangelistic involvement with the Israelis residing in Hastings/Napier where the family currently live. Zohar also leads Bible Studies for those interested in Jewish Evangelism, Israel, Eschatology, and the Jewish Feasts. He is fluent in Hebrew, English and Russian, and reaches out to saved and unsaved hearers alike with the Word of God in all three languages respectively.

The Gonens have four precious children, Aviel, Liam, Yakim, and Eliya. The family welcome your prayers as they venture into full time ministry among their people, and raise their family to the glory of God.
